Adrian Calderon joined Neuman Pools, a company specializing in building gunite pools, right after high school. This role gave him the unique opportunity to explore a variety of pool designs, from residential to commercial properties, all over the United States. As much as he enjoyed the experience, Calderon realized the retail side of the business was a better fit for him, leading him to hot tubs and his current position as retail team lead at Patio Pleasures in Madison, Wisconsin.
At Patio Pleasures, the motto is “Inspire the Endless Weekend.” This philosophy resonates with Calderon as his favorite part of the industry is the joy and relaxation that it brings to people, allowing them to enjoy endless vacations in the comfort of their homes.
“It is very rewarding knowing we can positively contribute to people’s home lives by helping them unwind and relax,” he says.
He also values the long-lasting relationships formed with customers and takes pride in providing customer service long after the sale is complete.
As he grows, Calderon is committed to deepening his product knowledge and becoming an expert in all areas of the business. He aspires to one day fill his boss’s shoes, leading the team and continuing to provide exceptional service.
However, he sees room for improvement in the industry, particularly in automation and accurate testing for hot tubs because many customers struggle with balancing their spa water, often becoming overwhelmed by the process.
“There seem to be misconceptions that hot tubs are like bathtubs — just a body of water that gets filled and drained,” he says.
He believes that incorporating chemical automation in all spas could reduce the burden on customers, potentially leading to more satisfied clients and increased sales — something everyone could use more of.
